Magic for the Future

  • Trigg Watson is a new breed of magician. He prefers his iPad to a deck of cards. He likes robots more than rabbits. His modern tech-infused magic has wowed audiences from London to Las Vegas and on cruise ships around the world. He has also been featured on Pop TV’s“Don’t Blink”, Penn & Teller’s “Fool Us” and “Masters of Illusion” on the CW, and America’s Got Talent on NBC. Trigg recently served as a creative consultant for the hit Netflix show “Magic for Humans.” Trigg has received several awards for his performances, most notably placing as the highest scoring American magician at the World Magic Seminar in Las Vegas, and two-time winner of the Texas Magicians Contest. Attend one of his shows, and he’ll have you question what’s possible and laughing along the way.

  • Trigg grew up in Australia but currently resides in Los Angeles, California. He first caught the “magic bug” after witnessing a magician at a young friend’s 4-year-old birthday party. Following the show, Trigg exhausted the local library of its books on magic and feverishly worked to hone his skills. In 2001, Trigg moved with his family from Australia to the United States at the age of 11. Following high school, Trigg moved from New Orleans to Dallas, TX to attend Southern Methodist University and graduated with dual degrees in business management and theater studies (AKA “Show Biz”). Prior to becoming a full-time entertainer, Trigg worked as a technology consultant for Deloitte Consulting.

Disruptive Leadership: Thriving in an Era of Constant Change

    • Push past innovation fatigue and complacency.

    • Move beyond their existing asset base.

    • Spur growth with disruptive ideas and creative leadership.

  • What does it take to be a disruptive leader? Do you need to be a brilliant agitator like Steve Jobs? A driven workaholic like Tesla’s Elon Musk? Sure, CEOs like that get a lot of press, but there’s more to success than being loud and charismatic. Truly disruptive leaders are like master chefs on a cooking show, always looking for ways to take existing ingredients and combine them in unique ways.

Those new recipes are a type of investment capital: the more you have, the better. Of course, not all will succeed. But disruptive thinking and leadership is less about the success of any one idea and more about putting your business in a position where you have more new ideas to spend than your competition does. Most importantly, being a disruptive leader is about creating a culture where everyone values new recipes. Because if you want to build a disruptive organization, you must first build more disruptive leaders.

Guided Dentistry and Digital Quality Control While Improving Treatment Outcomes, Patient Satisfaction and Experiencing Less Stress

    • Understand the potential of digital workflows from data collection, case design, digital planning, and guided execution.

    • Achieve more predictable treatment results, in less time, with a more gratifying patient experience.

  • In presenting a carefully conceived and well-founded treatment plan, you are committing to meet or exceed our patient's expectations. It is no secret that this can prove to be one of the great causes of daily stress in your professional life. Successful, predictably pleasing treatment outcomes are not guaranteed and unexpected circumstances can lead to treatment disappointment and even failure.

In short, there are ways to minimize risk and stress levels, and at the same time, increase the odds of achieving treatment success and making patients happy. Embracing new ideas, building clinical knowledge, and mastering new technologies is an excellent goal and the core mission of this lecture.

In this presentation, Dr Creagh will share his experience with digital workflows and how to get the most out of the digital armamentaria you employ. With a clear understanding of the technologies, diagnostic and treatment protocols, any clinician can achieve extraordinary clinical outcomes with control and predictability, while reducing pressure and anxiety in the process.

Lecture up to .75 hour Operative (Restorative) Dentistry, AGD Subject Code 250

  • Dr Jesus Creagh received his degree in dentistry from the University of Seville in 2000 and specializes in interdisciplinary Facially Guided Treatments. Great Lips: The Outward Expression of Excellent Esthetic Dentistry

    • Identify how restorative esthetic dentistry, orthodontics and cosmetic procedures can enhance lip esthetics.

    • Communicate lip-related treatment goals to all interdisciplinary team members to achieve beautiful lips.

  • The dentist holds many keys to creating beautiful lips. But how does dentistry affect the lips in positive ways? If treated properly, teeth support lip fullness and projection, define lip curl and vermillion exposure, and they create effortless lip movement and expression. To accomplish this, the dentist must understand how the teeth influence the lips in large and small, but very significant ways. In this presentation, Dr Gunson will discuss what is necessary to integrate treatment plans with full, beautiful lips as part of the result.

    Lecture up to .75 hour
Esthetics/Cosmetic Dentistry, AGD Subject Code 780

  • Dr Michael J. Gunson graduated from UCLA Dental School, Medical School and received his Specialty Certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery also from UCLA. Dr Gunson's private practice in Santa Barbara, CA is limited to facial reconstructive surgery. His broad understanding of facial health has dramatically improved functional and esthetic outcomes in orthognathic surgery. He enjoys sharing this information through teaching, publications, and lectures. He is also an associate professor at Boston University School of Dentistry.

Disruption: A Fresh Look at the Transverse Dimension

    • Understand the importance of the transverse dimension.

    • Identify how to orthodontically expand a skeletally mature patient.

  • The transverse dimension is an often overlooked and yet a key aspect to overall diagnosis and treatment planning. Dr. Bockow will review how dentistry and orthodontics have diagnosed and treated the transverse dimension over the years. She will review how orthodontic treatment approaches to a transverse discrepancy have evolved because of the understanding this dimension plays in overall health.

You will learn that a healthy transverse dimension helps ensure periodontal health, a well-fitting occlusal scheme, and is key to proper airway health. Proper diagnosis and treatment of the transverse dimension also help ensure a wide, aesthetic, and functional smile.

This program will review disruptive approaches to treat a transverse discrepancy such as early intervention, expansion to improve airway and sleep, ways to non-surgically expand a skeletally mature patient, and novel approaches to surgical expansion.

    Lecture up to .75 hour
    Orthodontics, AGD Subject Code 370

  • Dr Rebecca Bockow completed her DDS training at the University of Washington Dental School in 2007. She practiced as a general dentist in Seattle for two years while simultaneously teaching at the UW Dental School. Dr Bockow completed a highly selective dual-specialty program combining orthodontics and periodontics at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a board-certified orthodontist and periodontist. While simultaneously enrolled in two residency programs, she also received a master’s in oral biology, focusing on intranasal ketorolac for postoperative implant pain management. Dr Bockow lectures nationally on periodontics, orthodontics, interdisciplinary orthodontics, airway, and skeletal growth and development. She contributes to multiple professional journals as an author and editor, and is resident faculty at Spear Education.

Collaborative Debate: The Esthetic Zone Implant Dilemma: To Stage or Not to Stage?

    • Evaluate the impact of soft tissue management on the esthetic outcome in both staged and immediate implant placement.

    • Analyze the evidence-based research on the success rates and long-term stability of staged and immediate implants in the esthetic zone.

    • Develop critical thinking skills to weigh the risks and benefits associated with each approach and make informed decisions.

    • Enhance interdisciplinary communication and collaboration among dental professionals involved in esthetic zone implant treatment.

  • The management of missing teeth in the esthetic zone poses a significant challenge for dental professionals. The decision to stage or not to stage dental implants in this crucial area can have a profound impact on the final esthetic outcome. This session offers a platform for a lively debate and in-depth analysis of the various factors that influence this decision-making process. Two renowned clinicians will engage in comprehensive discussions, review case studies, and explore evidence-based research to develop a well-rounded understanding of the pros and cons of staging versus immediate placement of dental implants in the esthetic zone.
