Oxidative Stress: The Link Between Oral and Systemic Health
Lecture up to 1 hour
TBD
This advanced course explores the science, clinical application, and preventive strategies of the BaleDoneen Method®, with a focus on the central role of oxidative stress and oral/systemic health in the development and progression of cardiovascular and metabolic disease. Participants will examine how inflammatory drivers originating in the mouth including periodontal dysbiosis, endodontic pathology, and airway contribute to vascular injury through oxidative mechanisms, endothelial dysfunction, and immune activation.
Emphasis is placed on recognizing the bidirectional pathways connecting oral infections to systemic disease, understanding the molecular and vascular impact of oxidative stress, and applying precision, root-cause diagnostics to identify arterial inflammation before significant clinical events occur. Learners will develop practical skills for incorporating personalized arterial risk assessment, oral-systemic collaboration, and lifestyle/treatment interventions aimed at reducing oxidative burden and optimizing arterial health. With collaboration, heart attacks, strokes and type 2 diabetes can be mitigated.
Upon completion of this workshop, attendees should be able to:
-
Explain the mechanisms by which oxidative stress contributes to arterial injury and cardiovascular event risk..
-
Identify and evaluate high-risk oral pathogens, inflammatory biomarkers, and imaging findings that link oral disease to systemic vascular inflammation.
Dr Doneen is Consultant for CardioRisk laboratories and co-owner of the BaleDoneen Method.
Dr Amy Doneen is an expert in Arteriology – the study of systemic arterial health; preventing heart attacks, strokes, type 2 Diabetes, and chronic disease. Dr Doneen has published numerous peer-reviewed papers on CV disease prevention, the oral/systemic connection, arterial inflammation and arterial disease, including several landmark papers that challenge the current paradigm of CV Health.
Dr Doneen is the owner and medical director of The Prevention Center for Heart & Brain Health in Spokane WA, where she sees patients and provides clinical rotations for medical students. She holds academic appointments at WSU College of Medicine and the University of Pikeville. Dr Doneen co-authored two best-selling books, “Beat the Heart Attack Gene” and “Healthy Heart, Healthy Brain: The Personalized Path to Protect your Memory, Prevent Heart Attacks and Strokes and Avoid Chronic Illness”.
Dr Doneen has lectured on these topics since 2001 and has taught The BaleDoneen Method internationally and nationally.
