This session provides a clinical update on esthetic ceramic treatment options ranging from conservative laminate veneers and posterior onlays to resin-bonded bridges and implant-supported restorations. Dr Blatz explores current “hot topics” in the field, including digital smile design, artificial intelligence, minimally invasive preparation guidelines, new adhesive protocols, deep margin elevation, and evidence-based dentistry—covering everything from “A” for adhesive bonding to “Z” for zirconia.
Upon completion of this session, attendees should be able to:
- Comprehend clinical guidelines for long-lasting ceramic restorations from laminate veneers and onlays to resin-bonded bridges and implant-supported protheses

Dr Markus B. Blatz is Professor of Restorative Dentistry, Chair of the Department of Preventive and Restorative Sciences, and Assistant Dean for Digital Innovation and Professional Development at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in Philadelphia. He is also the founder of the Penn Dental Medicine CAD/CAM Ceramic Center.
Dr Blatz earned his dental degree from the University of Freiburg in Germany, where he also received multiple doctorate degrees, a Certificate in Prosthodontics, and a Professorship. An internationally acclaimed speaker and prolific author, he has published hundreds of articles and book chapters. He serves as Editor-in-Chief of Compendium of Continuing Education in Dentistry, Associate Editor of the Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry, and holds leadership and editorial board positions with numerous other scientific dental journals.
His Instagram account, @profmarkusblatz, has been repeatedly recognized by peers as the “most educational Instagram account” in dentistry.
