Adding Sleep Apnea and Airway to a General Dental Practice Without Making It Weird or Overcomplicated
Lecture up to 1 hour
Sleep Medicine | AGD Subject Code 160
Airway and sleep dentistry can feel like a specialty reserved for a select few, but the truth is any general practice can integrate it in a way that feels natural, not forced. This course breaks down how to spot the patients who are already sitting in your chair, the ones with worn teeth, tongue scalloping, or chronic fatigue, and turn those observations into confident, low-pressure conversations. You’ll walk away knowing exactly what to look for and how to talk about it without sounding like you’re selling something. Beyond the clinical side, this course focuses on the practical side of implementation: simple workflows that fit into your existing schedule, screening tools your team can actually use, and referral or in-house treatment paths that make sense for your practice. Attendees will leave with a clear, doable plan for adding airway and sleep services in a way that improves patient outcomes and strengthens the bottom line, without adding chaos to the day-to-day.
Upon completion of this workshop, attendees should be able to:
- Learn how to identify patients who may benefit from airway and sleep evaluations and confidently introduce these conversations into everyday practice.
- Understand practical workflows that integrate airway and sleep services into a general practice while improving patient care and practice profitability.

Dr Chaz is a dentist, practice owner, and educator with a passion for helping others build thriving, independent careers in dentistry. Dr Chaz grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, where he watched his father serve as a dentist in their community for 25 years. That example is what first drew him to the profession. He went on to earn his dental degree from the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry, then served five years as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy. Today, Dr Chaz owns and runs The Local Dentist in Bellingham, Washington, a practice he built from the ground up and transitioned to fully fee-for-service in just two years. He is also the creator of The Dental Jumpstart, a program designed for dentists and aspiring dentists who want to start a practice from scratch or accelerate their careers. Through it, he teaches leadership and communication skills while helping dentists break free from the constraints of insurance PPO write-offs.
